Custom Wood Lockers - Shenendehowa High School Hockey Locker Room
In 2005, new head coach Juan De La Rocha came to ProZone in need of an upgrade to their dedicated high school hockey locker room. The locker room is at a public skating arena only minutes from campus and Coach De La Rocha wanted custom high school wood lockers for his new team room. ProZone worked closely and directly with Coach to come together on a practical design. A desired hockey wood locker design was one that had an open feel, a place to hang skates, and the ability for and airflow system that pushed hot air, up though the lockers.
Shenendehowa High School's Problem:
The High School hockey powerhouse had a dedicated locker room that had only benches and hooks. Benches and hooks have become an outdated and inefficient way to store and dry equipment. To make the locker room a truly functional space they were going to need new high school wood lockers.
The ProZone High School Wood Locker Solution:
ProZone gave them high school wood lockers that had storage space for all their hockey equipment. They now have an open locker profile with shelf space for hockey helmets, shoulder pads, shin pads, skates and goalie pads. It is traditional to give goalies bigger locker units as they have more equipment and bigger equipment then players do.
The custom wood lockers were manufactured out of Maple Veneer plywood and maple hardwood edging on all exposed edges. hardwood edging is used to ensure long lasting durability. This is an upgrade from a thin piece of edge tape, which is common on lesser quality lockers. Prozone used its standard UV cured finish for the maple veneer plywood panels. ProZone incorporated an airflow system from the room ventilation and heating system. The high wood lockers then had heated air flowing through each locker so that each piece of equipment dries.
High School wood lockers - Unique Feature
The unique feature to these high school wood lockers project was that Coach De La Rocha also wanted custom wood lockers for his coaches lockers. Coaches lockers are similar to players lockers, but the main difference was a custom lock box was included to lock up wallets and cell phones. The coaches were more concerned about security then players needed to be. The other difference was a clothes rod for the coaches to hang up their suits and warm-ups. The players did not need this extra feature in their normal high school wood lockers.
