College Wood Lockers - RPI East Campus Athletic Village

 

Whiting Turner Construction Company was the construction manager for the construction of RPI's new East Campus athletic village, a project that included major upgrades for all of RPI's athletic programs. ProZone worked closely with representatives from RPI and the Architect; Sasaki Associates, to develop locker room designs for each sport:

- Football Wood Lockers

- Lacrosse Wood lockers

- Basketball Wood Lockers

- Soccer Wood Lockers

- Field Hockey Wood Lockers

East Campus Athletic Village

The new RPI East Campus Athletic Village included: An addition to the Houston Field House ice arena, An outdoor athletic Stadium for all sports and a new basketball arena. New wood lockers were also constructed for use by the coaches, club teams, Intramural teams and recreational teams. With RPI's addition of the East Campus Athletic Village it has shown a strong commitment towards its athletic programs for years to come.

Every aspect of the new facility will be key for RPI, but no part is more important than the new wood lockers. They have created the ultimate recruiting tool. When recruits walk through the locker rooms at this facility they are going to know about RPI's commitment to athletics.

 

The ProZone Locker Solution:

ProZone's abilities were put to the test in this campus wide renovation. ProZone stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Our design staff was able to work within the needs of each sport to develop college wood lockers that are state-of-the-art for every sport. While trying to meet the storage needs of each sport and coach can be challenging, ProZone got the job done.

Highlights of RPI's college wood lockers:

Lockers were complete with a pattern of ventilation holes cut into the front of each locker. A unique design aspect for these lockers was that they were a two tone color. Maple veneer plywood was used in constructing most of the wood lockers, except each locker back panel was stained a dark espresso color. Sasaki Associates requested the use of a different color for the back panel to make sure RPI's lockers really stood out. Learn more about the custom staining process.

Even though each sport had different size lockers, each locker received a custom wood lock box with a padlock hasp. Each player could use their own combination lock to secure the box.
